The W6 subwoofers embody the optimal combination of design aspects required to reproduce exceptional in-car bass from very compact enclosures. The W6v3's are the third generation of the W6 pedigree, representing a giant leap forward in our quest for small box bass perfection. Built alongside the flagship W7's in our Miramar, Florida factory, the W6v3 subwoofers incorporate many of the W7's groundbreaking technologies to keep distortion well below audibility throughout the driver's dynamic range. All W6v3's feature a patented cooling structure for improved power handling and fidelity, rubber surround for enhanced durability and a large-diameter, progressive roll spider to provide linear compliance over the woofer's excursion range. Available in 10 and 12-inch sizes with dual 4 ohm voice coils for wiring versatility, W6v3's are optimized to operate in sealed and ported enclosures. Return to W6v3 subwoofers.

JL Audio's proprietary Dynamic Motor Analysis system is a powerful suite of FEA-based modeling systems, first developed by JL Audio in 1997 and refined over the years to scientifically address the issue of speaker motor linearity. This leads to vastly reduced distortion and faithfully reproduced transients... or put simply: tight, clean, articulate bass.

JL Audio's patented Elevated Frame Cooling design delivers cool air through slots directly above the top-plate to the voice coil of the speaker. This not only enhances power handling, but also sound quality by minimizing dynamic parameter shifts and power compression. (U.S. Patent #6,219,431 & #6,229,902)

This assembly technique, conceived by JL Audio, ensures proper surround geometry in the assembled speaker for better excursion control and dynamic voice coil alignment. (U.S. Patent #6,501,844)

Since BOTH W6v3 voice coils must be connected to the amplifier (in series or parallel) for the speaker to operate properly, each W6v3 features a pair of main input connection push terminals and four voice coil configuration tab terminals. Located behind the main input connectors, these are used to interconnect the dual voice coils in either Series or Parallel configurations.

In high-powered subwoofer drivers, thermal management is essential. The bullet-shaped structure inside the pole-vent directs airflow and increases air velocity to effectively reduce voice coil temperature, leading to improved fidelity and reliability. (U.S. Patent #6,535,613)

This removable ring can be painted to match the installation theme and directly receives JL Audio grille mesh inserts (sold separately). (U.S. Patent #D480,709)
