Volvo C70 Turbo fitted with a Alpine DVD headunit with a 5.1 surround sound processor and a DVD based sat nav system. The system is configured to run fully active, each speaker having its own amplifier channel. The system runs two slash amps (on show) the 300/4 running all 4 channels of the ZR650-CSi, and the 1000/1 (gain almost off)running the two 10W7 mounted in custom enclosures in the very small boot. Sunk into the now redundant spare wheel well is a A4300 this powers the rear fill XR650-CXi and the single din sized Alpine centre channel. Various other control units are fitted all from the Alpine range (reverse camera/ipod interface/MP3 multidisk etc). A convertble is not the first choice for an install as the accoustics are terrible, although 20 sheets of Dynamat Extreme are trying their best to kill road noise a mohair roof will always make it difficult. Luckily Volvo's are built like tanks the only problems have been with the roof micro switches and too much bass. Two 10W7 are overkill but it does mean if I want I can turn up the remote gain and shake the car (as standard everything is detuned for greater sound quality)!. In full surround sound the audio is superb with crystal highs backed up by warm mids and sensational deep rumbling bass, you feel as if you are in the film. I may also fit a pair of ZR800CW speakers which I have just purchased behind the rear seats in the factory woofer locations, someone at Volvo must like there tunes. I may have to get another amp to power these speakers one of the new smaller amps should be ok.I will eventually change over to these but it will cost about 2000.00 pounds to move away from my slash amps. As such the car will never be finished as there is always something new coming along/out that I will have to have and fit. I have tried not to think how much I have spent on the car but it is well in excess of 8500.00 pounds/$19000.00 in equipment alone but its worth it.
