Audio Measurement & DSP Adjustment Software

JL Audio’s free TüN software is used to adjust DSP features in a wide range of JL Audio’s products. Its unique and intuitive interface makes it easy to set up complex systems and adjust parameters in a logical progression. These include input levels, signal routing, crossover filters, equalization, channel delays, all-pass filters, polarity and output levels. Complex settings can be saved as presets for quick recall via a Digital Remote Controller accessory.

The fourth and newest version of TüN™ adds a powerful new dimension that promises to further simplify and improve system tuning, leading to great audio results in a wide range of applications.

In addition to multiple improvements to its interface within its “NETWORK”, “SETUP” and “TUNE” tabs, TüN 4 marks the debut of a fourth tab, labeled “MEASURE”. This tab can be accessed from within a TüN project with a JL Audio DSP, or independently in “Measure Only” mode, so you can use its features to measure any audio system.

Clicking on the “Measure” tab, users will discover a powerful set of audio measurement tools. These are integrated with TüN 4 DSP controls and designed to make tuning audio systems precise, efficient, and even fun.

A wide range of measurement microphones can be used for acoustical input, connecting to your Mac or PC directly via USB, or via a USB audio interface. These are sold separately and are available from a variety of sources.

Once you connect a measurement microphone via USB to your computer, you will be able to use TüN 4.0’s powerful, single-FFT measurement functions: Spectrograph, Meters and Gain and Real Time Analyzer (RTA).

Spectrograph:

A 2D visual heat map where the vertical axis represents time and the horizontal axis represents frequency. Blue colors indicate a low amplitude, with greens, and then reds indicating higher amplitudes. White spots indicate excessive signal (overload).

Meters and Gain:

a useful feature to monitor input and output signals. Displays signal levels present at each input and output.

Real Time Spectrum Analyzer (RTA):

used to measure frequency response, with up to 1/48 octave banding and adjustable averaging. Data can be displayed as bars, or as a line.

EQ Overlay:

When used with VXi or MVi amplifiers, the relevant EQ controls overlay onto the RTA display. Seeing your measurements and your controls in one software interface makes the job a lot easier.

Target Curve Mode

TüN 4.0 also includes a powerful target curve generator, which allows you to set your own preferred frequency response curve or choose a default curve. TüN 4.0 will then apply your selected crossover filters to the target curves, creating individual targets for each channel in an active system. These curves display on your RTA screens, allowing you to adjust your crossovers and EQs to match them.

Your filtered target response can help you guide manual EQ and crossover filter adjustments.

Autoset EQ

With TüN 4.0 in RTA mode and connected to an MVi or VXi system, you can use the “Autoset EQ” function. As the name implies, you simply click a button in the EQ panel and the software adjusts the parametric EQ automatically to fit your selected target curve. It is amazingly accurate, performing thousands of calculations to arrive at the best combinations of center frequency, “Q” and gain for all ten PEQ bands (or any number from 1-10 you wish to assign), and it does so in mere seconds, saving huge chunks of time and effort in the tuning process.

Signal Generator

A useful Signal Generator is built into TüN 4.0 and able to deliver a wide range of test signals that play from your computer’s audio output. You can even add your own test signals as audio files and play them through the Signal Generator feature.

TüN 4 includes all the features described above and remains free to download and use.

VXi Car Amplifiers

Reference-grade amplifiers with integrated DSP VXi amplifiers combine JL Audio’s advanced amplifier technology with a powerful digital signal processor, all within a compact and beautiful package that is easy to install and offers unprecedented tuning power and flexibility. At the heart of each VXi amplifier is a triple-core AKM® DSP engine with a custom configuration. This powerful DSP not only enables powerful tuning capabilities, but it also helps to improve amplifier audio performance by acting as a master clock for the full-range audio amplifier sections. Further amplifier performance gains have been achieved via minimum loop area output designs, DirectFET® output devices and closely coupled output capacitor banks. The result is a new level of Class D amplifier performance, with outstanding efficiency, reliable power delivery and world-class audio quality. The triple-core DSP engine has ample power to enable a full suite of powerful signal processing functions. These include powerful input switching, routing and mixing that allow a wide range of sources and configurations. Multiple banks of parametric equalization can be assigned to individual channels or groups of channels. Also included for each amplifier output channel and the analog pre-outs: high pass and low pass filters, delay, all-pass filter, polarity and output level trim. Optical, digital pre-outs feature the ability to EQ and level control the digital stream. Instead of using traditional control knobs and switches, VXi amplifiers are easily configured from the driver’s seat, using JL Audio’s free TüN™ software on a compatible computer, tablet or smartphone. Users can define up to six active preset tunings that can be called up at the push of a button using one of the compatible DRC controllers (sold separately). Download and test-drive all TüN™ software versions in simulation mode for free (no VXi hardware needed).   Learn More <div class="video-container-bg no-js-video-container-bg" style="background-image:url('//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0231/7202/2350/files/VX700-5i-ART-3_1024x.jpg?v=1579031190'); background-size: cover; background-position: center center; background-repeat: no-repeat;"></div> VXi Product Spotlight
